Defeat

I had my first match as a squash coach yesterday, and it is nothing to write home about. But that's why blogs were invented, right?

We lost. We lost 0-7. I was hopeful because my beginners seemed like really good beginners, but the other school's beginners were cut from a different cloth.

There is seriously just too much work to do - on the courts, with grading and planning, with catching up with advisees who don't do their work for Paul's class, with competing with SparkNotes as a teacher, and with the rest of life!

I was thinking today how nice it would be to enjoy the season. We got our first snow last night and this morning, and it feels like Christmas is around the corner. But what does it matter? It won't really be the Christmas season until everything is graded, the final grades are in, and the kids leave. There's too much to do!

Good thing Duffy's chilled out. He's the best thing ever.

Take a deep breath, Em. You'll get it all done. And tell those squash newbies to kick it up a notch at the next match. They'll get there.
